About JList

About Us

An independent daily title covering technology, business, sport, health and culture — reported by people, checked by editors, and corrected in the open.

JList is an independent digital news title covering technology, business, sport, health, culture and the everyday consumer questions that people actually search for. We publish clear, verifiable reporting written for a general audience — not for algorithms.

What we do

JList began as a small explainer desk and has grown into a daily publication with sections spanning news, technology, business, sport, health, entertainment, arts, media, fashion and travel. Our editorial mix is deliberately broad, but the standard behind every piece is the same: a reader should finish an article knowing something concrete they did not know before, and should be able to check where that knowledge came from.

A large share of our traffic comes from people asking practical questions — how a service works, what something costs, whether a claim is true. We treat those questions as journalism, not filler. Every guide is researched against primary sources, dated, and revisited when the facts change.

Reported, not rewritten

We work from primary documents, official data and named sources wherever possible, and we say so in the copy when we cannot.

Dated and maintained

Guides carry a publication date and are updated when prices, rules or products change. Superseded claims are corrected, not quietly deleted.

Independent of advertisers

Commercial partners have no say over editorial coverage, and sponsored material is labelled clearly and separated from reporting.

How we work

Stories are commissioned by the desk, drafted by a writer with relevant knowledge, then checked by an editor before publication. Fact-checking is a required step, not an optional one: figures are traced to their source, quotes are verified against the original, and links point to the document being described rather than to a secondary summary of it.

Where a topic touches on money, health or the law, we set a higher bar. Those pieces are reviewed a second time before they go live, they state plainly what they are not (they are not personalised financial, medical or legal advice), and they point readers to the appropriate professional or regulator.

Our editorial standards

We publish a full editorial policy setting out how we source, verify, correct and update material, and how we handle conflicts of interest. If we get something wrong, we fix it in the open — the change is logged on the page and, where the error was material, noted on our corrections page.

We do not publish undisclosed paid links, we do not accept payment to remove accurate reporting, and we do not use artificial intelligence to generate finished articles that are presented as human-reported work. AI tools may assist with research, transcription or subediting; a named human editor is accountable for everything we publish.

Who we are

JList is produced by a small distributed team of writers and editors, supported by specialist freelance contributors in technology, consumer finance, health and sport. We are funded by advertising and by commercial partnerships that are disclosed on the page.

If you would like to write for us, we are open to pitches from journalists and knowledgeable specialists — see Write For Us for what we commission and how to pitch.
